Go with friends

Adventure is more fun when it’s shared. Here are our best hostels for friend groups, big and small.

Loft

Loft is right in the centre of the action in the capital of Reykjavik, with all the sights a few minutes away. Explore Iceland’s coffee culture at the many cafés and wander the colourful streets, or jam out at the many live music venues.

Loft is the best place to start the night, with happy hour from 4-8pm and drinks from 860kr, and make sure to check out the calendar to check what events are going on.

Seyðisfjörður

With its spacious common room and kitchen, Seyðisfjörður makes the perfect space for groups. During summer you can also use the barbecue area under the midnight sun, and during the colder days the sauna is the ideal way to warm up. With many walks in the area, you can easily spend a few days seeing the pretty town from every viewpoint. Don’t miss the summer concert series at the iconic blue church, or the Skaftfell Centre for Visual Art.

Korpudalur

The converted farmhouse at Korpudalur feels like it’s at the edge of the world, but is also close to the hub of Ísafjörður with its dock and airport. Korpudalur’s converted barn makes the perfect place to host friends, and has previously hosted movie nights, weddings and reunions. Having a large group will feel like having your own private fjord, and the dorms room are small but mighty in how many people they can host.

Höfn

The laid-back fishing town of Höfn sits between the excitement of the South Coast and the inspiring nature of the East Fjords. With its modern facilities and large common area, Höfn makes a great place to sit back and prepare for the next day’s travel, play some board games and eat dinner. The huge kitchen is a great place to cook a big dinner, or you can head out to one of the many lobster restaurants in town- it’s the dish of the town, and they even have a festival celebrating the crustacean in summer!
