Next stop: Arctic Circle / The small town with the big view
Whales in plain sight on the fjord, enchanting mountains, and valleys all around and the Arctic Circle just a ferry ride away make the charming Dalvík Hostel a great base for exploring the wonders of Tröllaskagi peninsula and the Eyjafjörður area. Located by the main street of Dalvík, a friendly fishing village, you can take a short walk to the local thermal pool or the folk and history museums or the harbour. From the harbour the ferry leaves for Grímsey island where you can step over the Arctic Circle after admiring whales, puffins and the view to the magnificent north coast on the way.
Every season offers something unique and special. The midnight sun touching the horizon in summer, skiing and heliskiing in winter, birdlife in spring and connoisseurs will argue that the country's best wild blueberries can be found in the hills above the village in the autumn.
