HI Iceland - Sustainability Policy

HI Iceland is committed to sustainable travel, eco-friendly accommodation, and fostering meaningful local experiences. We encourage responsible tourism by helping guests reduce their environmental impact while supporting Icelandic communities, culture, and nature.

Our sustainability policy focuses on reducing waste, conserving water and energy, recycling, carbon-neutral accommodation, and choosing durable, eco-labeled products. We prioritize Icelandic, organic, and fair-trade food, reduce food waste, and support composting initiatives across our hostels.

We promote responsible travel, longer stays, and sustainable mobility while protecting Iceland’s natural environment and reducing climate impact.

HI Iceland values human rights, multiculturalism, fair working conditions, and collaboration with sustainable local suppliers. We support local businesses, small-scale food production, and locally produced goods and services to strengthen Icelandic communities and destinations for future generations.
