Northern Lights and Stargazing just outside Reykjavik
In the tour we head away from the city lights to where we predict the best sightings according to cloud forecast. Our tiny tour group allows us to get off the beaten path and away from the crowds to enjoy the Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis) in serenity.
The Northern Lights are a natural phenomenon and displays can never be guaranteed. For a sighting we need three things to come together: solar storm, darkness and a clear sky. Overall, on any given night during dark hours in Iceland, your chances are about 50/50. We maximise this chance by going out when auroral activity and cloud cover forecasts are favourable. Our sighting rate is 90%.
Northern Lights hunting is all about the weather. We spend winters chasing Northern Lights weather and summers chasing Paragliding weather. We teach meteorology on our Paragliding courses every year. We know Icelandic weather! We are local sky enthusiasts and our small and personal tours are designed to make you feel like a part of our team and a part of Iceland.
