Highland Hikers Passport in Iceland
Want to hike Iceland's most popular highland hiking routes, the Laugavegur hiking trail and the Fimmvörðuháls hiking trail.
You will get bus transfer from Reykjavík and choose between three hiking bases to start from.
With the Highland Hikers Passport you can choose three locations to start from:
Skógar waterfall, Landmannalaugar or Þórsmörk
There are three variations of the Hiking trails you can then choose;
The Laugavegur hiking trail is one of the most popular hiking trails in Iceland and a favourite among the locals. The hike usually starts in Landmannalaugar and from there it is a 3-4 days hike to Þórsmörk nature reserve.
Fimmvörðuháls hiking trail is extremely popular and during the last few years it has become even more so. One of the reasons being the volcanic eruption that took place in the middle of the trail in 2010. The hike takes you through a pass between the glaciers Eyjafjallajökull and Mýrdalsjökull and takes about 7-10 hours to complete, depending on hike’s pace.
For those interested in hiking both Laugavegur and Fimmvörðuháls, this option combines the both and allows you to hike both trails with guaranteed transportation. You can start at either Skógar or at Landmannalaugar.
This Passport is a discounted one way ticket from Reykjavík to one of the three starting destinations and one way ticket back to Reykjavík from where you finish your hike.
With the Highland Hikers Passport you enjoy the flexibility and take as much time for the hike as you please (from June 20th - September 9th). Please note that September 9th is the last day of operations!
