Glacier hike on Vatnajökull

A walk on the largest glacier in Europe, Vatnajökull. It is an easy glacier walk on crampons up onto the ice field. As we explore the wonderland of ice sculptures, ridges, and deep crevasses, you will learn more and more about the nature of glaciers. This is a great way to experience Icelandic nature.
 
In this glacier walk with a local guide from Hali you experience the wonders of Vatnajökull glacier. Our guide takes you on an unforgettable journey on Breiðamerkurjökull, one of Vatnajökull’s biggest outlet glacier. The trip starts at Hali Country Hotel reception, where your guide drives you to the glacier area, away from the crowds and off the beaten path where you can breathe in the fresh Icelandic air. 
 
As we walk in the stunning surroundings of Vatnajökull National Park with plenty of unique picture moments our guide takes you through the regions history from the settlement until our times. The tour is intended for those who want to spend half a day outside walking, talking and enjoying the unforgettable landscape in the surroundings of Jökulsárlón.
 
Starting point: Hali Country Hotel reception (Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon 13 km, Vagnsstaðir HI Hostel 15 km). Transfer from Reykjavík is not included.
 
Duration : 3 - 3 1/2 hours, including 1 hour on the glacier.
 
We provide: Safety helmets, harness, crampons, ad safety belt.
 
What to bring: We suggest hiking shoes, warm outdoor clothing, waterproof jacket and pants, headwear and gloves.
