Biking through Breiðdalur valley in East Iceland
Roll through the enchanting Breiðdalur “Broad” Valley along romantic backroads, where the air is fresh and you can experience pure silence. Making your way along an old country road you cross over Breiðdalsá River and travel up a narrow path for an overhead view of the valley below.
We take a short hike to Flögufoss waterfall which seems to magically flow through a hole in the cliffs. Along our cycling journey we stop to take in rustic delights like an abandoned turf-roof farm and Heydalir, a typical rural Icelandic church.
By biking along these quiet backroads and uncrowded landscapes you are able to explore hidden corners of Iceland’s Eastfjords while enjoying the satisfaction of traveling under your own power.
