It offers small and cosy rooms with antique furniture and amazing fjord views from the dining room.  Hafaldan Hospital is located in the towns centre in the 100 year old Norwegian former hospital building. Center for visual art is dedicated to nurturing and exhibiting visual art, the main emphasis being on contemporary art. Skaftfell is a meeting point for artists and locals and serves as a center for visual art in all East-Iceland. Skaftfell was founded in the year 1998 by a group of art enthusiasts in the town of Seydisfjordur. On the first floor there is an exhibition space with running exhibitions the whole year through. On the top floor there is a beautiful artists residency available for visual artists and scholars. Skaftfell Bistro is on the ground floor with a good library of book-art, art-books and related material, in addition to serving fabulous food and coffee the Bistro hosts the West-wall gallery, a space dedicated to showing the works of young, experimental artists.

The Technical Museum

The Technical Museum of East Iceland was established in 1984. The museum´s main focus is on the influx of modern times around 1880 to 1950. Technical innovations in areas such as mechanics, electricity, communications, telephony, commerce and architecture are interlaced with changes in lifestyle and milieu.

Hlynur Oddsson, an experienced sailor, knows the fjord like the back of his hand.

Tvisongur is a sound sculpture by German artist Lukas Kühne and is located on a mountainside above the town. The work is built of concrete and consists of five interconnected domes of different sizes. The heights of the domes are between 2 and 4 meters and they cover an area of about 30 square meters. Each dome has its own resonance that corresponds to a tone in the Icelandic musical tradition of five-tone harmony, and works as a natural amplifier to that tone

Plenty of possibilities around the magnificent fjord, get further information through the internet, at the hostel or in the tourist info when you arrive.
