An old farmhouse turned hostel with heaps of charm


The Hostel in Korpudalur is in a nice old farmhouse which has been renovated into a Hostel. The Hostel is located innermost in Önundarfjörður surrounded by high mountains, 17 km from Ísafjörður and 12 km from Flateyri. Around the Hostel there are many possibilities for hiking, climbing and angling in the wild nature. A 15 km mountain hiking trail lies through Korpudalur and Álftafjarðarheiði, an old traditional route. For birdwatchers, thousands of seabirds, sparrows, ducks and even eagles can be seen. At Ísafjörður and Flateyri you can find activities such as swimming, hot pots, kayaking and golf. Scheduled boat trips on Ísafjarðardjúp - to Vigur and Hornstrandir - can also be attempted.

There are buses in connection with the ferry Baldur from Brjánslækur via Patreksfjörður and Látrabjarg to Önundarfjörður.There are also bus connections from Reykjavík via Hólmavík to Ísafjörður to Önundarfjörður, three times a week.
At or near hostel
The Hostel is located 4 km from road no 60 and 18 km from Ísafjörður. Guests are picked up from Ísafjörður for a reasonable price and there is a free pick up service from the road.
There are daily scheduled flights from Reykjavík to Ísafjörður.


Flateyri (23 km from Isafjordur) has a museum, “The Old Bookstore” where the village’s history is displayed, including the avalanche which claimed the lives of 20 inhabitants in 1995. Visitors can also buy second hand books and visit the old merchant’s home. An international doll museum can also be found in Flateyri.


Suðureyri (23 km from Isafjordur) is known as the “original fishing village”. A tour there will give you a glimpse into the daily life of the fishermen, visit a fish factory or even spend a day as a fisherman yourself! Beautiful hiking routes and a geothermal outdoor swimming pool help perfect your visit to Suðureyri


Bolungarvik. A 15 km drive to the north-west from Isafjordur will take you to the village of Bolungarvik. There you can visit the small but fantastic maritime museum Osvor, and the Westfjords Natural History Museum. A drive to the mountain Bolafjall on a bright day will offer beautiful panoramic view over the area.

Bike Rental

You can rent a bike and pedal your way around the Isafjordur area. Ask about biking routes at the Tourist Information Office.


The Westfjords Maritime Museum is only a couple of minutes walk from where cruise ship passengers disembark. The museum tells the history of fisheries and the fishing industry, with special focus on the industry’s role in the building of Isafjordur.
