Go back in time in the over 100 year old turf house and enjoy one of the biggest collections of English literature on the geology of Iceland in the inhouse library
The Fljótsdalur hostel looks forward to welcoming you and making your stay a pleasant one! The hostel is one of the HI network of hostels in Iceland.
Fljótsdalur is a turf-roofed former farmhouse over 100 years old. The view from the house of Eyjafjallajökull and Mýrdalsjökull is splendid. Compared to modern standards the house is rather simple, for example the shower is in the garden. All rooms are dormitory style without private facilities. The hostel has a beautiful garden with seating, tables and a sheltered barbecue area. There is also a collection of over 2000 books and papers on Iceland, mainly in English. The surrounding area is great for hiking, with hikes ranging from less than 2 hours upto 2 days. The nearest facilities (shops, swimming pool, bank, bus stop) are in Hvolsvöllur, 27 km away.
