Loft Hostel will be a fun hostel in the centre of downtown Reykjavík. It is located on Reykjavík’s main shopping street and within 5 minutes walking distance from Hallgrímskirkja, the City Pond and Harpa Concert Hall; it literally has the best of the city on its doorstep. Loft also boasts one of the finest views in town with its large top floor balcony café overlooking the city centre – a great spot to people watch or catch a glimpse of the northern lights in winter.

Make yourself at home in our cozy lounge; make new friends at the bar or surf the web using our free WiFi. Facilities include free computer access, fully equipped guest kitchen, book exchange, free luggage storage during stay. Loft café and bar offers top quality coffee and wine and beer from local breweries, as well as some sweet and savoury treats, and our mostly organic breakfast is a great start to the day. We host regular movie nights, music events, foosball tournaments and other social events.

Loft offers a wide range of 4-8 person dorms and double rooms, all with private bathroom. Linen is included in all rooms. Free lockers are available in dormitories. Female only dorms and single rooms are available upon request.

We are there to help you out with anything you need; give you the local scoop on bars, restaurants, music and more. As to be expected there are many attractions at the state's capital, Reykjavík. Here we have decided to focus more on the surroundings of Loft and all the activities mentioned below are in a nice walking distance from the hostel:

Harpa Concert Hall and Conference Center

Home to the Icelandic Symphony Orchestra and The Icelandic Opera, and host to several concerts, shows and events every week, Harpa is the crown jewel of Reykjavík‘s cultural life.

HjART Park

A pleasant surprise between the shops and restaurants downtown, HjArt Park (formerly know as the Heart Park or Hjartagarðurinn) is a small square bustling with life and energy. Literally covered with artwork from Reykjavík‘s graffiti eart scene, and usually playing host to DJ‘s or concerts all day long, you will find HjArt Park crowded with people on a summer day.

Austurvöllur square

In good weather the Austurvöllur square is filled with people of all ages. It's the perfect place for a picnic lunch or a game of hackysack.

A feast for the taste buds

The downtown area is crowded with all kinds of restaurants suited for all budgets. If hungry, walk any direction for a few minutes and you will find something to eat.

Reykjavík Flea Market

The flea market, Kolaportið, has everything one would want. There's a food court with local delicacies such as shark and flatkökur, second hand clothing booths, Icelandic woolen sweaters, vinyl records and vintage books.
