Attractions
As to be expected there are many attractions at the state's capital, Reykjavík. Here we have decided to focus more on the surroundings of Reykjavík City Hostels and all the activities mentioned below are in a nice walking distance from the hostel:

Ásmundur Sveinsson sculpture Museum

A permanent retrospective exhibition of works by Asmundur Sveinsson (1893-1982), one of the pioneers of sculpture in Iceland. The museum holds a collection of original sculptures by the artist, both indoors and outdoors. A sculpture garden surrounds the Museum, adorned by almost thirty of the artist´s sculptures. The Museum is housed in a unique domed building that was designed and built mostly by the artist himself. Free Admission.

Reykjavík Zoo and Family Park

Reykjavik Zoo and Family Park in Laugardalur Valley is an ideal place for a family outing. The zoo houses about 150 animals of 19 species, including farmyard animals and wild animals such as seals and reindeer. After viewing the animals at close quarters, perhaps watching the seals being fed or riding and Icelandic horse, the children can enjoy the rides and activities in the adjacent Family Park.

Laugardalslaug Thermal Pool

Laugardalslaug is the city’s largest pool with extensive facilities, located in Laugardalur Valley. It's right next to Reykjavík City Hostel, so close infact that you could almost walk there in your bathing suit. Its facilities include a 50m outdoor pool, outdoor children’s pool and paddling pool, two waterslides, numerous “hot pots“, steam bath, gym and mini golf course.

Reykjavík Skating Hall

Looking for something fun to do? Why not go skating at the Reykjavik Skating Hall. You can skate to Top Hits with surround sound and disco lights on the ice. Fun for all ages. The Skating Hall is located in the heart of the city’s sport valley known as Laugardalur.

The Reykjavík Botanical Gardens

The Reykjavík Botanical Gardens contains examples of most Icelandic plants (about 300-350) as well as thousands of foreign plants. There's also a cafe in the gardens where you can enjoy a lovely cup of coffee.
