Grundarfjörður, right in the palm of the majestic Snæfellsnes peninsula, is the perfect location for a whale watching.
Grundarfjörður Hostel is located in a small and picturesque fishing village surrounded by amazing mountains, and the town itself is the most centrally located on the Snæfellsnes peninsula; its strategic location makes it an ideal stop from which to explore the beautiful landscape of this area characterized by majestic mountains, diverse birdlife, waterfalls, lava fields, lovely beaches, open sea and the well known Snæfellsjökull glacier.
Grundarfjördur Hostel was originally composed of a double storey red house, but it has recetly expanded to include other buildings in town. Some of the rooms offer private facilities. The reception remains in the original address of Hlíðarvegur 15, and it is open from 15:00 till 21:00pm in the summer, except if differently arranged.
The hostel offers a wide range of accommodation: beds in shared dorm, single and double rooms, family rooms and also private apartments. Bed linen and towels are available for a small extra fee that is not included in the price.
Services in Grundarfjörður include banks (with cash dispensers), restaurants, a supermarket, a petrol station (also the local bus stop), a mechanic and a small museum and information centre.
