Hostel Details

At Berunes hostel you can enjoy peace and Icelandic farm live in a magnificent environment

Are you looking for a comfortable and relaxing space with stunning views? Berunes is an old farm, set on the seafront, surrounded with spectacular mountain range. There you will find a homely hostel in which to relax and unwind, enjoy the scenery or even the mystical mist.

The Old House that has been a hostel since 1973 for almost is built at the beginning of last century by the grandparents of the hosts.  Guests will not find a TV or a clock there, it's not needed. However, they will find a collection of books, selected and given by our guests throughout the past 40 years. The hostel offers basic facilities, a small double and family rooms for up to 15 people, sharing living area, kitchen and 2 bathrooms.

In the Family House there are five single/double/family rooms all with shared facilities. Additionally, few self-catering cottages are available; each of them can accommodate from 2 to 5 people.

Guests can treat themselves to the renowned pancake breakfast in the morning and local cuisine at the Gestastofan Berunes family restaurant.

Berunes is ideally located for those who are travelling between South Skaftafell National Park and the Myvatn area up in the North.

We welcome you to become a part of our history.

Opening times: April 1st - October 1st
