Accommodation

  • Mostly 2-6 bedded rooms.
  • All hostels, except Fljótsdalur Hostel, offer 2-bedded rooms.
  • Duvets and pillows are always complimentary, just bring your own bed linen or rent it at the hostel.
  • You may use a sleeping bag if you prefer.
  • Bring your own towels and soap.
  • If you do not especially ask for a family or a private room you get a bed in a shared room with other people.
  • These hostel offer rooms with private facilities: Reykjavík CityReykjavík Downtown, Laugarvatn, Selfoss, Eyrarbakki, Borgarnes, Akranes and Höfn. Other hostels offer only rooms with shared facilities.

Guest kitchens

  • Every hostel has a well equipped guest kitchen for individual cooking, at no extra cost.
  • Most hostels serve breakfast and some also dinner, lunch and packed lunch.
  • Dinner and lunch should be ordered in advance.

Activities

  • All hostels offer a variety of exciting activities at the hostels or in the neighborhood.
  • Rafting, angling, swimming, hiking, riding, and glacier tours are among activities on offer.

Bookings

You are always welcome to show up without a reservation at the Icelandic hostels but we strongly recommend you to book ahead and do it well in advance in order to ensure you the facilities and the service you wish for. This especially counts for those who wish for a seperate family room as well as all groups. 

HI in Iceland offers you the following ways of making contact / booking service:

  • Contact our Central Booking Office info@hostel.is if you like them to take care of bookings of any of the hostels, arrange you our affordable car rental package and provide offers of variety of tours around Reykjavík and to different parts of the country.  No booking fee.
