Glacier moon walk takes place on a summer evening, when the day feels almost like its endless in the period from June 1st - September 30th 2014.The tour is specifically intended for travelers arriving at their lodging destination (in the county of Austur-Skaftafellssýsla) in the afternoon and are looking for exciting after dinner adventures.
Walking on Vatnajökull glacier, Europe's largest ice cap, is an unforgettable experience. The walk takes place on Breiðamerkurjökull, the largest outlet glacier or glacier tongue of Vatnajökull.This glacier tour is guided by a local from the nearby farm Hali, which takes you through the history of the surrounding area, spanning from the country's settlement until today. This tour is only intended for closed groups.
The tour can take between 2,5 - 4 hours, all depending on the size of the group and weather conditions.
Estimated departure time is between 20:00 - 21:00, starting from Þórbergssetur museum next to Hali farm (Höfn 67 km, Vagnsstaðir 15 km, Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon 15 km). Estimated arrival time from trip to Þórbergssetur is around midnight.
Minimum age is 10 years old (or shoe size 36 European size / US 4).
Difficulty level can be from easy to moderate.
