Traffic across Múlakvísl in Mýrdalssandur, South Iceland has been restored after a flash flood from Mýrdalsjökull swept away the bridge last Saturday. The Icelandic Road Administration has established a temporary, single-lane bridge over the river that will serve traffic in both directions while a permanent bridge is built. The alternative route, F208 - Fjallabaksleið nyrðri - is still open, but only to larger vehicles.
We here at HI Iceland thank the car rental agency for their swift respond and all our guests for their patience and positive attitudes. We hope this closing didn't cause too much inconvenience and wish you safe and happy travels!
