Glacier Lagoon

Jökulsárlón lagoon measures about 7 square miles (20 km2) and until 1932 was covered in thick glacial ice. Then the glacier started to retreat, and nowadays more than 300 feet (100 m) of ice breaks away each year to reshape the lagoon and fill it with huge spectacular icebergs. A pure natural art and a magnificent sight.

Pakkhúsið is a charming old house by the harbour in Höfn. There you can find all kinds of homemade arts and crafts and a nautical museum. It is definetely worth to visit!

In Gamlabúð you can find many interesting things from the past and learn about how life was in South-East Iceland around 1850-1950. The Folk museum is by the main road in Höfn, Hafnarbraut, to the left when you come into town.

The Glacier Exhibition in Höfn has been renewed and now stays open all year. Visitors have the opportunity to experience and learn about the area, the nature and basic glaciology. The Exhibition is divided into five accessible sections.
