Car rental prices - Off-season 2012
These prices are valid for the off season from January 1st - June 14th 2012 and August 20th - December 31st 2012. The prices are valid for the whole package, not pr. person. If you need any other combination of car/number of person/ number of days or you are travelling with children under 13 years of age please contact us for new prices at info@hostel.is.*
The prices are based on a dormitory accommodation with shared facilities. Those who would like a private/family room or a room with private facilities have to pay a supplement. See below table.

Private/family rooms with shared facilities
Single/double room supplement (per room): 2.200 ISK
Family room supplement (per room): 1.200 ISK
Private/family rooms with private facilities
(Available at Reykjavík City, Reykjavík Downtown, Laugarvatn, Höfn, Akranes, Borgarnes, Grundarfjörður, Siglufjörður and Eyrarbakki)
Single/double room supplement (per room): 6.000 ISK
3-6 bed room supplement (per person): 1.200 ISK
Supplements at Reykjavík Downtown Hostel
Double room supplement (per room) - shared facilities: 8.100 ISK
Double room supplement (per room) - private facilities: 11.200 ISK
4-6 bed room supplement (per person) - private facilities: 3.500 ISK
8-10 bed room supplement (per person) - private facilities: 1.500 ISK
Car rental extra fees:
Airport pick up and/or drop off fee: 4.800 ISK per rental
SCDW insurance** (car types A-D): 1.600 ISK per day
SCDW insurance** (car types M-E): 2.700 ISK per day
Car seats for children (max 6.900 ISK per rental): 900 ISK per day
Luggage trailers (car types E, I and J): 5.400 ISK per day
Additional driver (2 included in packages): 3.500 ISK per day
GPS system: 1.800 ISK per day / Max 18.000 ISK per rental
GPS self risk is 50.000 ISK (not incl. in SCDW) in case of lost or destroyed instrument.
**The difference between self risk with the CDW included in the package and SCDW is severe. Therefore we recommend that all our customers buy the SCDW insurance.
The self risk with the CDW included is 195.500 ISK for car types A-D but lowers to 18.500 ISK with the SCDW
The self risk with the CDW included is 357.000 ISK for car types M-E but lowers to 38.000 ISK with the SCDW
- Airport fee only paid once per rental.
- Baby/children car seats need to be requested before arrival
- Please note that 7 and 8 seated cars have limited luggage facilities when all seats are taken. Therefore a luggage trailer is advised. Only available for car types E, I and J.
- Luggage trailer needs to be requested before arrival
